Description
Nos 1 to 7 on Leicester Street are late 18th century to early 19th century adjoining buildings. Nos 1 and 3 feature a painted brick facade and a slate roof, standing three storeys tall. They have a mix of two, one, and two windows, with the central window slightly recessed, all fitted with sashes that include glazing bars. The ground floor has two reproduction shop fronts with small panes and retains a door with a fanlight. Nos 5 and 7 are constructed of red brick, also with a slate roof, and are three storeys high with three windows that have segmental brick arches, again with sashes featuring glazing bars. The ground floor has modern shop fronts, with the centre featuring a canted bay and unbarred sashes.
These buildings, along with Nos 1 to 21 (odd), Nos 25 and 27, form a group with Nos 1 to 3 in Leicester Yard, the entrance gates and bandstand in New Park, The Golden Fleece Public House, and Nos 36A and 38 opposite. Nos 21, 25, The Golden Fleece Public House, and Nos 36A and 38 are noted as buildings of local interest.
