Description
The Forge, now a private house, is a late 18th-century building that has been altered in the late 20th century. It is situated on Granby Lane, Redmiile. The building is constructed of whitewashed ironstone and brick, with a pantiled roof. It is a single storey with a dormer attic, running east to west along Chapel Street. The front of the building has two 20th-century casement windows with shutters. The pitched roof features rebuilt gable-end stacks at each end and a ridge stack positioned towards the left of the centre. A gabled dormer is located at the rear. A secondary range extends north of the original building; this has been altered to incorporate a late 20th-century dormer and features large 20th-century glazed panels.
