Description
Church Cottage is a cottage that dates back partially to the early 16th century, with the remainder likely from the 17th or early 18th century. The oldest section features timber framing with brick panel infill and a plain tiled roof that has replaced the original thatch. The building has a main range and a cross wing, with the wing being the earlier part, which is cruck framed. The full height cruck is set on a cobble plinth and includes a tiebeam, collar, and saddle at the apex, with spurs to the angle posts. The infill has close studding, and the windows have been renewed with casements. The main range consists of two units, featuring a central doorway in a new porch, flanked by three-light casement windows with steeply brick-arched heads. Above, there are two eyebrow dormers, and the cottage has two axial stacks, one located behind the entry.
