Description

The war memorial in Hinckley, located on Wood Street, was built around 1920. The pedestal was designed by J.W. Worth, with sculpture work by A. Smith and inscriptions created by E.J. William. It is made of Portland stone and features a tall cenotaph with cornices at approximately half-height and at the top, all resting on a low plinth. The lower panels have inscriptions framed by bolection-moulded surrounds, with volute-brackets above that support masks and swags. The upper panels display reliefs of saints, and there is a statue of an angel positioned on top.
