Description

This is a late 18th century and early to mid-19th century house and shop building with associated rear buildings. The front is of red brick laid upon a stone plinth, topped by a slate roof and brick end stacks. The house is three storeys high, with a distinctive toothed brick eaves course and a reduction in proportions on the second floor. It has a regular three-window front with glazing bar sash windows set within gauged brick heads, each having a raised key block. Mid-20th century top-opening casements replace some of the original windows on the second floor. The central windows on the first and second floors are blind, located within a full-height arched recess, similar to the design of number 7 High Street. The central entrance features a six-panel door set within a heavily reeded surround, with a low entablature hood supported by heavy volute brackets.
