Description

The United Reform Church, originally listed as the George Street Congregational Church, dates from 1777 but was likely rebuilt in the early 19th century. It is constructed of red brick featuring painted pilaster quoins, window arches, and a moulded cornice, along with rendered bands and a door surround. The building has a moulded platband above the ground floor and a cillband on the upper floor. It has a low hipped roof made of Swithland slate, with the ridge running from front to back.

The church is two storeys high and has a symmetrical three-window front, with segment-headed surrounds and keyblocks. The windows are paired casements with glazing bars that radiate above. The entrance is framed by a pilastered surround with a frieze and cornice, leading to paired six-panel doors with overlights. To the right, there is a two-storey single-bay extension in a similar style, featuring a panelled door with a Gothick-glazed fanlight. The left side of the building has three windows on two storeys, along with a band and moulded cornice. A datestone above the door indicates the construction of the chapel followed the reunion of two Lutterworth Congregations after an earlier secession.

Inside, the church was altered in the late 19th century but still retains original galleries around three sides and a hexagonal pulpit. There are various 18th-century monuments present.
