Description
The stable range adjoining the northwest of Cotesbach Hall dates from the 18th century. It is constructed of red brick in Flemish bond and features a Welsh slate roof with gabled ends and a cogged brick eaves cornice. The building has an L-shaped plan, with the short east wing attached to the service wing of Cotesbach Hall. It faces a yard and backs onto the road.
The exterior is one storey with a loft and has an asymmetrical south front. To the right, there are two two-light casements with glazing bars. Between these, and to the left, are doorways with large rectangular overlights. The right wing includes two horizontally sliding sashes with glazing bars and two plank doors, one of which has an overlight. All openings are topped with cambered brick arches. A small pedimented dormer is located over the right-hand end of the main range, and a hipped dormer is situated over the wing. The main range also features a small louvred lantern and a weathervane on the ridge. At the rear, there is a cambered arch window on the left and a small loft hatch to the left of centre. A lean-to outshut on the west end has a two-light loft window in the gable above.
