Description

The Cottage is a house, originally built as a pair of cottages, dating from 1828, with later 19th-century alterations. It is constructed of brick and has a hipped roof covered in plain tiles, with two brick ridge stacks. The house has a plinth and a dentilled cornice. The east front has five bays and is asymmetrical. The off-centre doorway has a part-glazed, six-panel door. To the left of the doorway is a glazing-bar sash window, followed by a smaller, late 19th-century glazing-bar sash, and then a larger glazing-bar sash. To the right is a three-light casement window. Above, there are three glazing-bar sashes. All windows have cambered arches. The north wall has the date 1828 formed in tiles. The eastern portion of the front has three bays with, on the ground floor, 8/8 hornless sashes with glazing bars in bays 1 and 2. A 6/6 sash window was inserted between bays 1 and 2, and a three-light casement window is located in bay 3. The first floor has three 4/8 hornless sashes.
