Description
The Manor House is a house reputedly built in 1630 by George Bennett, a London merchant. It underwent alterations in the late 17th century and late 18th century. The building is constructed of red brick and features a plain tile hipped roof. It has a U-shaped plan with a tall plinth and a moulded band at the first floor level.
The north front has two storeys and an attic, with four irregular bays. The off-centre 18th-century doorway is framed by a 17th-century, nine-panel studded door that has a carved fan pattern and an arched head with carved spandrels. Above the door is an 18th-century overlight. To the left, there is a single three-light mullion and transom window with casements. To the right, there is a similar window followed by a former doorway with chamfered stone jambs and a round arch, which has been converted into a two-light window. Above, to the left, is another three-light window, and to the right, a two-light mullion and transom window. There are also two dormers with shallow pitched roofs and glazing-bar sashes.
The east elevation features a half-timber gabled porch and a doorway with a 17th-century plank door.
