Description

A stable range and cottage, dating from the early 19th century, with a core that is likely earlier. The building is located north-north-west of Wiverton Hall. Constructed primarily of brick, with some stone rubble to the left wing (which houses the cottage), it has a blue slate roof with gabled ends and ridge and lateral stacks. Bracketted eaves run along the roofline.

The stable range is broadly U-shaped although the cottage wing extends to the rear. It is a single-storey building, with attic accommodation in the left wing. The main, symmetrical range comprises five bays, featuring a central arched doorway above which is a gable displaying a clock, surmounted by an ashlar bellcote. Two wooden cross-windows are positioned to either side, with the left-hand window lowered. An arched doorway is set between bays 1 and 2. The right wing has two similar arched doorways and two cross-windows, one of which is part-blocked. All doors are made of vertical boarding. The garden front of the left wing features a three-light chamfered mullion window constructed of blue stone, and four gabled dormer windows above. The interior was not inspected.
