Description

The 1914 to 1918 War Memorial, designed by Messrs. Brown and Fisher of Wellingborough, is an early 20th-century structure located in the southwestern corner of The Square. The memorial features a stepped plinth in the shape of a cross, with metal tablets displaying the names of the deceased set into the angles between the cross arms. Above this, a polygonal shaft takes the form of a preaching cross, adorned with carved heads and figures, and is topped by an additional cross. The base of the memorial is accessed via two steps.
