Description

40 The Square is an early 19th-century building that is part of the same structure as Nos 15 and 16 Church Square. It is constructed of red brick and features a hipped roof covered with modern tiles. The building has three storeys, with two windows facing The Square (one of which is blank) and two windows facing Church Square, all of which are sashes with glazing bars. The ornate shop front, dated 1877, includes columns beside the windows and decorative carving above the chamfered corner doorway. The entire front of the building is likely made of artificial stone.
