Description
The lodge at Swithland Water Works, built in 1896 by Hawkesley of London, is a two-storey structure designed in the 'Queen Anne' style. It is constructed of red brick with stone dressings, featuring bands and coped shouldered gables, topped with a slate roof that has a gable ridge stack. The building has sash windows, most of which include stone sills and heads. A central projecting gable contains 6/6 sash windows on both floors. To the right, there is a door set at an angle with a banded stone surround and a flat canopy. The left side gable also has a 6/6 sash window on both floors. At the rear, there is another gable with a half dormer, which includes 4/4 and 6/6 sash windows and a door, along with a brick-walled yard and a single-storey outhouse. The lodge is situated in a park-like setting with a variety of trees and shrubs, and it holds group value with other structures at Swithland Reservoir Water Works.
