Description
The Old Vicarage is a house that was originally connected to the neighbouring Dower House. It dates back to the 17th century and was extended between 1760 and 1770. The building is constructed of brick and features a low-pitched Swithland slate roof. The original section consists of three storeys and two bays, showcasing a shaped Dutch end gable. A central doorway is set within a bracketed porch and is flanked by two-light horizontally sliding casements that have cambered heads.
To the right, the 1760 extension is of a lower height and includes a canted bay window topped with a castellated parapet and stone architraves around the sash window lights. Above this bay window, there is a tall wooden mullioned and transomed window with a flat arched brick head. The shaped Dutch end gable has stone kneelers, beneath which is a broad 16-light sash window with a gauged brick head on each floor. In the apex of the gable, there is a slate inscribed with the date and the initials W.P.
