Description

The Dower House is a house that was originally part of the neighbouring Old Vicarage. This section likely dates from the late 17th century, but it features a façade from around 1760. The building is constructed of brick with stone quoins and has a low-pitched hipped roof on the front gables, with Swithland slate covering the main range at the back. It stands three storeys tall and has two bays.

On the left side, there is a bay beneath a shaped Dutch gable that features a stags head motif. This bay contains a two-storey canted bay window with stone mullions and glazing bars, including margin-lights. Above this window is a triple light sash window with margin-lights, and there are stone sill and eaves bands. The right bay has a hipped Swithland slate roof, a ground floor doorway with an arched head, and above it, a wood mullioned and transomed window with stone architraves on each floor.

Inside, various spine beams and a chamfered cross beam suggest the earlier part of the building, while the principal room features a good plaster cornice from the 1760 work.
