Description

Pit Close Cottage is a 17th-century cottage located on the south side of Swithland Main Street. The building is constructed of whitewashed plastered rubble stone with a thatched roof, featuring red brick ridge and end stacks. It is a long, low range with 1½ storeys, displaying casement windows. There are two eyebrow dormers with two lights each, alongside a door and a thatched gabled porch. Below are two windows with three lights. A single-storey thatched extension is attached to the left end, with a three-light window. To the right end is an upper two-light window. The main roof has four eyebrow dormers, while a thatched outshut is positioned at the rear. A 19th-century pump with a handle is situated to the right of the front door.
