Description
The former framework knitting workshop, built around 1875, is a two-storey red brick building with gault brick dressings and a slate roof featuring end stacks. It has a total of 16 iron-framed windows with glazing bars on the first floor, set under brick segmental arches. The ground floor has similar windows, although some are currently boarded up. There are central double loading doors on both floors, along with a single door to the center right and small windows and a door on the left end. The right end and rear of the building are blank. The interior reportedly retains the original stairs. This workshop is a well-preserved example of the transitional phase in the hosiery industry, where several knitters would work for the workshop owner, with heating provided by fireplaces at the ends.
