Description

Two cottages, dated 1767, are located on Station Road in Thurcaston. The cottages are constructed of red brick with a plinth of granite and slate rubble stone. They have brick dentilled eaves and a roof of Swithland slate, with a central ridge stack. The cottages are two storeys high and have 3 three-light casement windows in the centre of the main façade, with those on the first floor set within hipped half-dormers. The ground floor windows have cambered lintels. A wooden doorcase with a hood shelters a six-panelled door on the left side (number 5). A two-storey extension projects to the right, featuring a single-light casement window and a three-light window above. An outshut is situated at the right end of number 3, with a door and windows. A former stable adjoins the rear right corner, featuring doors to the ground floor and a three-light casement window above. "1767" is inscribed in black lettering on the right gable of the main range.
