Description
The Methodist Chapel, built in 1815, is a Non-Conformist chapel located on Chapel Street in Ticknall. It is constructed of red brick with painted stone dressings and features a Welsh slate roof. The building has a sawtooth eaves cornice and stands two storeys tall. The entrance elevation, which has three bays, is topped with a parapet that ramps up to a pedimented gable. There is a plain band at the first floor level and a thin band at the base of the parapet and the base of the pediment. The large round-arched entrance contains 20th-century double doors with an overlight, flanked by fixed small pane lights under wedge brick lintels. Above this, there are three similar windows, and above the central window is a stone with a moulded hoodmould inscribed with "METHODIST CHAPEL 1815." A circular vent with a moulded surround is located in the gable. The west and east elevations have similar fenestration with three bays each.
Inside, the chapel features a U-plan gallery supported by five cast iron columns. There is a later 19th-century raised preaching platform with iron railings and plain open benches. A pair of stick baluster staircases lead up to the gallery.
