Description
This building is an outbuilding, now used as a house, located to the east of the Canal Toll House at Swarkestone Stop. It dates from the early 19th century and has undergone some alterations in the 20th century. The structure is made of red brick and features a slate roof with a dentilled eaves band. It is two storeys high and has two bays. The north elevation faces the canal and includes a wide segmental arched doorcase with double plank doors, along with a similar opening above that now has a glazed screen. The side elevations have 20th-century windows set in original segment-headed openings, with two windows above and two below. This building was constructed as part of the Trent and Mersey Canal and is included for its group value.
