Description
This barn, located two meters southwest of Martinside, was built in 1773. It is constructed from coursed gritstone with gritstone dressings and features large quoins. The roof is made of stone slate, and the gable end walls and dormers have moulded stone copings and kneelers.
On the north side, there are two gabled dormers that are coped, each with recessed doorcases and plank doors. Above the lintel of the eastern door, there is a datestone inscribed with the year '1773'. The south side has a long roof slope leading to low eaves, with three quoined, chamfered doorcases that have heavy lintels, along with various later blocked windows. The gable wall includes a segmental arched door to the north, a central chamfered quoined window, and a chamfered quoined doorcase to the south. Inside, the barn has a walled-off bay to the west and three queen strut trusses.
