Description
Stubbs is a farmhouse, now a house, dating from the late 18th century. It is constructed of coursed squared gritstone with quoins and features flush gritstone dressings. The roof is made of stone slate, with stone gable ends and off-centre ridge stacks. The gables are stone coped and have moulded kneelers.
The building is two storeys high with a double fronted elevation. It has a central doorcase with flush jambs and a lintel, leading to a 20th-century door. To the west, there is a three-light flush mullion window, while to the east, there are 20th-century French windows with leaded lights. Above the door, there is a small single light window, and on either side of the door, there are three-light flush mullion windows. The west gable wall has a modern extension with mullioned windows. At the rear, there is an unusual T-shaped stairwell window, which features two two-light flush mullion windows joined by a low three-light flush mullion window. Below the central light, there is a long single light, with only the central part lighting the stairwell. Inside, there is a good original turned baluster staircase.
