Description

The Methodist Church and Sunday School, located on Buxton Road in Whaley Bridge, is a building consisting of three units, with the central unit dated 1821, making it the earliest part. The center features three round-headed windows on the upper floor and cambered arches with keystones on the lower floor. There is an arched doorway with a keystone and double doors, along with a rectangular fanlight containing four arched lights.

To the right is the school room, which was added in the later 19th century and has three storeys with two round-headed windows. The left side is occupied by the chapel, constructed in 1867. The gabled center of the chapel, which has rusticated quoins, slightly projects forward. It includes a round-headed window with Gothic glazing bars and two lights set in a reveal, along with a band at the cill above the doorway that has a rusticated surround and a round-headed entry. Each side of the chapel has one round-headed window above another with a segmental head. The school room and chapel are included for their group value.
