Description
The Methodist Chapel, built in 1809, is a rectangular building set back between Nos 3 and 5 on George Street in Kingsclere. It features a symmetrical gabled front facing a small forecourt, constructed from squared knapped flint with flush stone dressings. The façade includes quoins, a small circular panel with three cusps, central triple lancets (with the central lancet being taller and wider), and a lancet on each side at a lower level, along with a central wide doorway topped by a pointed arch. The other sides of the chapel are made of brickwork, with three wide lancets on each long side and a high circular window in the north gable. The roof is slate-covered. Inside, there is a balcony and original plain furnishings, along with several wall monuments dating from the 1850s to the 1890s. The five bays are marked by decorative roof beams, and the windows are sash style. A later schoolroom is located at the rear of No 3, accessed through a doorway with a pointed arch.
