Description
The Crown Public House is a building that dates from the 17th century, with a Victorian-Tudor refronting completed in the late 19th century. Originally three cottages of timber-framed construction, some of this framing is still visible on the first floor. The building has two storeys and features a tile roof with hipped projections at the rear. The front facade includes two gables, supported by brackets at the eaves. The walls are rendered and have a plinth. The upper windows are casements, while the ground floor has sash windows. There are three Gothic-style entrances, with the central entrance projecting as a porch that features gables, impost mouldings above Tudor arches, and lower buttresses. On the east side, a small hall projects forward in a similar style, highlighted by a prominent gable that contains a large mullion and transom window. This building is an important feature in the local setting.
