Description

Canal Cottage and the attached former stable block are located on Canal Street in Whaley Bridge. The cottage features early 19th-century characteristics and is built of coursed stone, which is painted, with a Welsh slate roof. It has two storeys with three windows that have stone lintels and hung sashes with glazing bars on both floors. There are two doors, each with four fielded panels and rectangular fanlights set in stone surrounds. The former stable block to the east is also two storeys high, constructed of coursed stone, and has two window openings above two carriage doors. These stables were historically linked to the Cromford and High Peak Railway.
