Description
Bings Farmhouse and the attached barn are early 18th century structures located on Bings Road in Whaley Bridge. The farmhouse is two storeys high, built of coursed stone with a roof primarily covered in stone slates. A shaped lintel above a now-blocked former doorway is dated 1706, and this doorway is situated below a round-headed window with a splayed reveal. To the right of the main block, there is one window above a modern penticed extension. The projecting wing on the left, which was formerly used as a salthouse and pantry, features one window over two on the gable end, which is accented by rusticated quoins. The present doorway, which has a stone lintel, is located to the left of the main block. Inside, the farmhouse has heavy chamfered ceiling beams. The attached barn, also constructed of stone and covered with a stone slate roof, dates from the 18th century.
