Description

THE CARR is a building with origins dating back to the 17th century, featuring two construction phases and alterations. It is primarily three storeys high, constructed of rough-rendered coursed stone, and has three later chimneys along with a stone slate roof. The building has irregular window arrangements, some of which include glazing bars. A penticed extension on the left side is covered with Welsh slates. The front elevation has modern windows. This building is likely the Carr Cottage referenced by Mrs. G Linnaeus Banks in her late 19th-century novel 'The Manchester Man'.
