Description
Laneside Farmhouse is a farmhouse built in 1654, with 20th-century alterations. It is constructed from whitewashed coursed gritstone rubble, featuring gritstone dressings and a slate roof. The gable ends and ridge stacks are rendered. The building is two storeys high and has a lobby entrance plan.
On the south elevation, there is an off-centre doorcase with a quoined surround, and the lintel is inscribed with 'IORA 1654'. To the east, there was originally a six-light recessed and chamfered mullion window, which now has 20th-century casements, although the central major mullion remains. A dripmould with returned stops is present above this window. To the west, there is a 20th-century plate glass window set in a recessed and chamfered opening, alongside a modern stone porch, which also has a dripmould above it. Further to the west, there is another plate glass window in what was formerly a four-light recessed and chamfered mullioned opening. Above this, there are three windows that were originally four-light recessed and chamfered, all now fitted with 20th-century casements. The east gable wall features a three-light recessed and chamfered mullion window at the first floor level.
