Description

Topshill Barn is an 18th-century former cowhouse located on the north side of Topshill Lane in the parish of Kirk Ireton. The barn is constructed of coursed squared gritstone with a plain tile roof and stone coped gables. It is two storeys in height. The south elevation features irregular and altered openings. There are three doorways, two with massive stone lintels. Two doorways have been blocked to create a window opening. Dated stone lintels are visible above one window and one former door, inscribed with the dates 1811 and 1812. The first floor has three window openings with stone surrounds. An external stone staircase is situated at the east end of the building.
