Description

The outbuildings located at the rear of Number 1 are from the late 18th century, with some 19th-century additions and 20th-century alterations. They are constructed from coursed squared rubble gritstone and have plain tile roofs. The building has an L-shaped layout, featuring a two-storey section that extends northwards and a lower range that extends westwards, both with double pitched roofs of varying spans.

The two-storey part includes a former stable door and a louvred overloft window on the west wall, along with a single four-pane gable window, a doorway, and three small windows on the east wall. The single-storey section to the west has a wider span to the south, which includes a double doorway and brick infill on the south wall. The narrower part to the north features a gable doorway and a second doorway in the centre of the north wall, with a small contemporary window to the left and a larger, later window to the right.

These outbuildings are connected to a stone slate-roofed projection from the rear of the range of buildings that form the north side of North Street in Cromford, and they originally formed part of that range. Before 1964, they became associated with Number 41, The Hill. They are listed for their group value with the houses on North Street.
