Description
Ivybank is a house dating from the 17th century, which has undergone significant alterations in the 19th century. It is constructed of coursed limestone rubble with quoins, and some sections are rendered. The 19th-century dressings are made of gritstone. The roof is covered with plain tiles and features a stone ridge, copings, kneelers, and gable finials. There are various elaborate 19th-century gable end and ridge stacks. The building has an irregular plan and consists of two storeys, except for a crosswing that has attics.
On the southeast facade, the central block has two gabled projections; the southern projection is from the 17th century, while the northern one is from the 19th century. The 17th-century wing has a blocked original doorway next to a 20th-century glazed porch. Additionally, a small 18th-century window partially fills a larger blocked 17th-century window. The central range features a large 19th-century window with an 18th-century window above it. There is a 17th-century recessed and chamfered attic window at the eaves. The 19th-century wing has a casement window on the first floor, and all other windows are from the 20th century. The southwest wall retains the remains of a 3-light recessed and chamfered mullion window.
