Description

The Miners Arm is a public house located on Miners Hill in Brassington. It dates from the late 18th century and underwent alterations in the 19th century. The building is mostly rendered, with a 19th-century projection made of coursed limestone rubble featuring quoins that are dated 1882. It has flush gritstone dressings and a plain tile roof that includes a catslide to the extension. There are gable end brick stacks, one of which is rendered.

The main block is three stories high and has two gables. To the north, there is a two-story range, most of which was extended forward in the 19th century, partly covering the main block. The main block features a doorcase next to a glazing bar sash window, with a pair of plain sashes above and two similar sashes in the gables. The 19th-century extension has an off-centre door with a small window to the north, and to the south and above, there are casement windows. To the north of the extension, there is a single bay with a 2-light flush mullion window with casements, and a similar but smaller window above it. To the south of the main block, there are 19th-century outbuildings with stairs leading to a door. The Miners Arm and its outbuildings are included for their group value only.
