Description
Brassington Hall is a house dating from the 17th century, with significant alterations made in the 19th century. It is constructed from coursed limestone rubble with quoins and features gritstone dressings. The roof is covered with plain tiles that have fish scale banding, and there are stone gable end and ridge stacks. The building is two storeys high plus attics and has a U-shaped plan with two projecting gabled crosswings on either side.
On the south elevation, the central range includes a single-storey projection that starts from a stringcourse. There are 19th-century three-light flush mullion windows on either side of an advanced stone porch, which has a round-headed arch and a moulded architrave topped with three ball finials. Above this porch, there are 19th-century flush mullion windows on either side of a single-light window. Each wing features a 19th-century two-light flush mullion window with a dripmould, with a similar window above. The gables contain blocked 17th-century recessed and chamfered two-light mullion windows. The rear and sides of the building have various 17th-century recessed and chamfered windows.
