Description

The Miner’s Arms Inn is a public house dating back to the 18th century, with additions from the 19th and 20th centuries. The main part of the building is constructed of coursed limestone rubble, except for its south facade, which is of squared gritstone with flush gritstone dressings and quoins. It has a plain tile roof and 19th-century brick gable end stacks. The inn is four bays wide and three storeys high. The front features two three-light mullion windows with casements on either side of the doorcase, which is sheltered by a 20th-century glazed porch. A similar mullion window is incorporated into a single-storey 20th-century addition to the east. Above, there are three three-light mullion windows with iron glazing bars and small central casements. Above the off-centre door, a small stairwell window extends to the eaves, featuring a transome dividing the floors. Similar, but smaller, mullion windows are also present at the eaves. A 19th century single-storey building adjoins it to the west, and a 20th-century single-storey extension is on the east side.
