Description

The gate piers and wall located 20 yards west of Ardsley House are from the early 18th century and were originally part of Longford Hall, re-erected around 1950. They are constructed from red brick and sandstone ashlar. The structure features two piers at either end of a three-bay brick wall, which includes pilaster buttresses and stone copings. The ashlar piers have a shallow cruciform plan or are square with pilasters on the sides, and they are topped with inverted carved brackets. Each pier has a moulded abacus and an urn-like top.
