Description
This is a pair of gate piers located at Longford House, dating from around 1833. They are made of ashlar stone over a brick core, currently painted and stuccoed. The piers are square in shape with shaped plinths, and their shafts feature indented panels. Each pier has a crowning band with a frieze, a cornice, and pyramidal caps, standing approximately 2 meters high. These piers are part of the second set leading to the carriage sweep of Longford House and form a unit with another pair of gate piers and a boundary pier with a fence in between. Together, they contribute to a significant streetscape feature in The Park.
