Description

Cliffe House is a circa 1765 building located on St John’s Road, Matlock Bath. It is a three-storey structure built with roughcast rendering. The front facade features three sash windows on each upper floor, set within plain surrounds. The ground floor incorporates two Venetian windows, also with plain surrounds. A doorway, similarly framed with a plain surround and arched head, is distinguished by quoins at the sides, a semi-circular fanlight with Gothic tracery, and an attractive porch constructed of decorative wrought iron with a pentice roof. The building is capped by a hipped slate roof. It serves as a prominent landmark within the area.
