Description

Upper Tower is an early 19th-century 'sham castle' and a notable landmark in Matlock Bath. The building is constructed of stucco and features a central block that is two storeys high, with two sash windows. The lower storey is advanced and has three casement windows. On each side, there is a three-storeyed round tower with pointed-arched windows that have "Gothic" glazing bars. The right-hand side has a recessed wing with one window and a small balcony. The structure is topped with castellated parapets.
