Description
No. 31 Market Place is a house that has been converted into a shop. It dates from the mid-18th century, with later additions from the 19th and 20th centuries. The building is constructed from coursed squared limestone with ashlar dressings and features a Welsh slate roof. The roof has ashlar gable stacks and stone-coped gables with plain kneelers.
The building is two storeys high and has a double range plan. The north elevation consists of three bays, with a central doorway that has a moulded stone surround and a 20th-century glazed door. This doorway is flanked by large late 19th-century windows that have flush stone surrounds. Above, there are three similar windows, with the inner one being narrower. The upper windows are fitted with casements. Additionally, there are two gabled half dormers above, which feature decorative barge boards.
At the rear, there is a full-height 18th-century staircase window that includes a square section flush mullion and three transoms.
