Description
The walls enclosing the former burial ground at Beighton Fields Priory are primarily from the 19th and 20th centuries. They are constructed of coursed squared sandstone with sandstone dressings, forming a rectangular enclosure. The walls feature a chamfered coped design, which is taller at the rear. There are 20th-century gate piers with moulded caps at the entrance on the south side. Inside the enclosure, there is a weathered tombstone adorned with drapery, along with an inscription plaque that has four shields surrounding the dedicatory inscription. This burial ground contains the remains of many generations of the Bowdon family.
