Handley Farmhouse And Attached Outbuilding To The West

Handley Farmhouse and the attached outbuilding to the west date from around 1800. The farmhouse is built from coursed squared gritstone and features an eaves band, plain gables, end ashlar ridge stacks, and a plain tiled roof. The house is two storeys high with attics and consists of two bays that have glazing bar sashes set beneath wedge lintels with 'V' shaped rustication. There is an off-centre doorway with a six-panelled door, which is enclosed by a flat-roofed stone porch supported by moulded pilasters that hold up the lintel and cornice. The lower range at the rear extends westwards into a farm outbuilding and has two 2-light flush mullioned windows above a 20th-century glazed lean-to on the rear elevation. The south elevation features a plain quoined surround to a blocked doorway, flanked by two plain window openings. There is also a lean-to attached to the west gable of the house.
