Description

This canal bridge, located to the east of Canal Cottages on Matlock Road in Ambergate, was constructed in 1792 by William Jessop and Benjamin Outram. It is made of coursed squared sandstone and features a single stilted semi-circular arch with a plain band above it. The parapets have rounded copings, and the walls curve outward on either side, ending in square piers. This bridge was built as part of the Cromford Canal.
