Description
Canal Cottages, built around 1800, is a three-storey building constructed from coursed squared rubble gritstone. It features plain eaves, end ridge brick chimneys, and roofs made of stone and Welsh slate. The southwest elevation has a central two-bay range flanked by lower recessed ranges. The window openings are plain with heavy lintels; the first and second floors have small paned cast iron windows beside a central door opening that has a planked door beneath a plain lintel. The ground floor windows are casement frames with glazing bars, while the flanking ranges also have casement frames. The canal elevation shows a flush arrangement of the central and flanking ranges, which includes three doorways and a tall window opening that may have been used for observation purposes.
