Description
Park Head Farmhouse is a mid-18th century farmhouse that includes some fragments of 17th-century work. It is constructed from regularly coursed squared rubble coal measures sandstone, featuring quoins, plain gables, and end brick ridge stacks, topped with a Welsh slated roof. The building has two storeys and three bays, with the eastern end being lower and set back.
The farmhouse has sash windows with margin lights, which are set in the surrounds of former two-light flush mullioned windows. The lower bay features a narrow sash frame in a plain surround on the first floor, and a 17th-century recessed and chamfered surround at the ground floor opening. The central doorway of the taller range has a massive lintel and surround, leading to a four-panelled door. There is a plain doorway to the lower range, which also contains an 18th-century hearth with corbelled jambs on the east gable.
