Description

This is a milepost located adjacent to number 8 on Derby Road in Ripley, dating from the early 19th century. It is made of cast iron and features a triangular sectioned base with a sloped top and a pointed head plate above. The head is inscribed with 'LONDON 136', while the west side has the inscriptions 'ALFRE N 3½ CHEST D 14' and the east side reads 'DERBY 9½ BURTON 21'.
