Description

The Old Post Box opposite Horsley School is a pillar box built in 1869. It is made of coursed squared Coxbench sandstone and features a tall square pillar topped with large stone coping. There is a small opening on the east side, which is now covered by a 20th-century plaque. The plaque is inscribed with the information that this unique pillar box was built in 1869 from Coxbench stone for the village of Horsley and that it ceased to be used in 1887.
