Description

Grange Cottage is a house dating from the mid-18th century, with some minor later alterations. It is built of coursed squared sandstone with sandstone dressings and features a steeply pitched plain tile roof with moulded stone copings, brick gable end stacks, and a large central ridge brick stack, along with a coved eaves band. The house has two storeys plus garrets and consists of two bays.

On the east side, there is a 20th-century plank door set in a flush quoined surround, while the west side has two painted 2-light flush mullion windows. Above these, there are two similar windows with 18th-century leaded panes in the eastern lights and iron casements in the western lights. The lower windows also feature similar iron casements. The west gable wall includes a 19th-century doorcase below a 2-light flush mullion garret window. Inside, the cottage retains its original fireplace and stop-chamfered ceiling beams.
