Description
Birchwood Farm features a collection of outbuildings and an attached gingang, dating from the early 19th century, with some minor later alterations. The buildings are constructed from coursed squared sandstone with sandstone dressings. The main range has a slate roof, while the gingang has a concrete tile roof and the cowsheds are topped with a corrugated iron roof.
The main range consists of four bays and includes both single-storey and two-storey sections. It has three stable doors and a small window on the east side, with two additional windows above and a full-height blocked segmental arch on the west side. To the west of the main range are the cowsheds, which feature lunette windows. The gingang at the rear has large doors on the angled walls and one door on the east side. Inside the gingang, there is an original king post roof and a large beam extending into the barn, although no threshing machinery remains.
