Description

The railed wall at Herbert Strutt School, located along the boundaries of Derby Road and Gibfield Lane, dates from 1908. It features a coped stone boundary wall with Art Nouveau railings on the eastern section along Gibfield Lane. Pyramidal capped stone piers, each with a blank Gothic arched niche, flank the steps at the north and south entrances from Derby Road. The central gateway is arched in stone and includes a hatchment in the gable above a moulded Tudor arch, with flanking Gothic arched niches. The structure includes steps leading up to the entrances.
